A quick update (or, lack of update, as the case may be): The wife is still "unemployed," as she still awaits a callback from the government. We've learned that this is an old issue, with many people having the same problem. I guess there is no hurry to address unemployment of the employed. You'd think it was the holidays during a pandemic or something....
Here we are, on the eve of the eve. Still in masks, still six feet away from each other. Well, more or less. The weariness of the pandemic weighs heavy on all of us. Complacency lurks around, always waiting for us to give in. And, give in we are so tempted to do.
The wife, dogs and I have become one with all the streaming services. Every night, I plop my sorry ass on the couch and watch 2.5 hours of some streaming service, with a serving of the news before becoming completely becoming a mush. I've decided it doesn't really matter what we're watching. The pandemic has numbed my brain almost as much as sitting on this couch has numbed my butt.At least we don't have to wear masks while plopped on the couch.
While I don't really pay much attention to what we're watching, I AM excited that Christmas Day will bring Letterkenny on Hulu. That I do care about. Pitter Patter.
For the holidays, I hope you watch at least one tacky Christmas movie, even if you don't like holiday movies.
I hope your remote pauses at least momentarily on the Hallmark Channel.
I hope that something simple and silly and heartwarming sneaks up on you.
I hope you see Jupiter and Saturn hanging out by each other.
I hope that you have a few mask-free minutes so you can eat some Christmas Cookies.
I hope that the Christmas cookie is accompanied by hot chocolate or ice cream or whatever adult product you deem appropriate.
I hope your ass isn't one with the couch for the entire day.
I hope you get to see someone you want to see, even if it's by some form of technology.
I hope that sad moments are soothed by something hopeful.
I hope that for one moment you laugh aloud and forget that the virus is a "thing."
I hope that the virus will become a thing of the past sooner than not.
I hope that for the day we can have less divisiveness and more peace.
And, I hope we can all agree that "Die Hard" is a Christmas Movie.
Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, indeed.
